Toshiba Corporation Introduces New TXZ+TM Family of Advanced Series M3H Group ARM? Cortex?-M3 Microcontrollers

April 26, 2022 - Toshiba Electronics Components and Storage Devices Corporation ("Toshiba")   announced that it had begun mass production of 21 new microcontrollers in the M3H group, a new member of the TXZ+™ family Advanced Series, manufactured on a 40nm process. The M3H group features a built-in ARM® Cortex®-M3 core running at speeds up to 120MHz, up to 512KB of integrated code flash and 32KB of data flash, and a 100,000 write cycle life. In addition, the new microcontrollers offer a wide range of interface and motor control options, such as UART, I2C, encoder, and programmable motor control.

To cope with the diversity of consumer devices, the new M3H group products are enhanced with UART, TSPI, I2C, and 2-unit DMAC for communication functions. In addition, a digital LCD driver has been integrated, thereby reducing the number of components used for display functions, facilitating contrast adjustment, and ensuring a flexible board layout.

The high-speed, high-precision 12-bit analog-to-digital converter (ADC) supports up to 21 analog-to-digital conversion input channels with individually configurable sample hold times, enabling this group of devices to support a wide variety of sensing applications. In addition, combined with the advanced programmable motor control circuitry, which can operate in parallel with the high-speed, high-precision 12-bit analog/digital converter, they provide a solution for controlling both AC motors and brushless DC motors.

The group of devices with built-in ROM, RAM, ADC, and clock self-diagnostic functions help customers to pass IEC60730 Class B functional safety certification.
