The CD4029BM is a CMOS 4-bit presettable up/down counter. The counter's binary or decade mode hinges on the voltage level set at the binary/decade input. When this input is at a logical "1", it tallies in binary; if not, it counts in decade. Likewise, when the up/down input is at a logical "1", the counter advances upwards, and conversely, it counts downwards. Depending on the control inputs, it can count up or down and be preset to a specific value using the preset inputs.
