Micron’s 16Mb enhanced+ boot block flash device is a nonvolatile, electrically block-erasable (flash), programmable, read-only memory containing 16,777,216 bits organized as 1,048,576 words (16 bits). The Micron® MT28F160C3 shares the same ballout and is functionally similar to the Intel® GT28F160C3. However, there are some advantages to using Micron’s device:
• A more flexible soft protection scheme to lock a single block or all blocks at the same time.
• A standby current of less than 10µA.
There are also some design considerations that should be noted when replacing Intel’s device with Micron’s MT28F160C3.
