STEVAL-ILL053V2 implements a 130 W LED power supply for street lighting. The circuit consists of two stages: a front-end PFC using L6562AT, and an LLC resonant converter based on L6599AT. The advantage of this design is its extremely high efficiency. Wide input power range (85-305 VAC) operation and long-term reliability. Because the mean time between failures (MTBF) in power supplies is usually affected by the high failure rate of ordinary electrolytic capacitors, the STEVAL-ILL053V2 evaluation board provides an innovative design method that uses EPCOS film capacitors instead of electrolytics Capacitor. Due to the high efficiency achieved, the PFC stage requires only a small heat sink, while other power components use surface-mount technology (SMT), which significantly reduces costs. STEVAL-ILL053V2 also provides an automatic restart function to prevent overload, short-circuit and open-loop and input over-voltage protection at each stage.
